Sprinkler controllers are commonly referred to as clocks or timers in our industry. Regardless of what you call the brain center of your irrigation system, the primary function of the sprinkler controller is to ensure that your lawn is watered according to settings you have set.
As you can imagine, not all sprinkler controllers look the same or have the same features. Depending on the brand and model of your sprinkler controller, programming may be straight forward or just plain confusing. I’ll be the first to admit that I have come across some controllers that require a quick Google or YouTube search to understand how the controller works. If you have an older sprinkler controller, you may not have the same functions or capabilities as the controllers shown above. Upgrading to a new controller, especially a SMART WiFi-based controller, may offset the cost with water savings.
